Laguna Verde is hidden behind high clips and steep slopes in a wide bay around 15 km south of Valparaiso. The colorful and humble suburbanites, summer residents and drop outs spread across the flat city center off the coast, in the surrounding area and the mountainous landscape.
This town is characterized by a cozy and peaceful atmosphere. In its valley an enchanting sandy beach stretches over one kilometer. Right there, in between simple houses and little shops the Sauce-River flows with kayakers pleasantly gliding on it. On the nearby hills two paths lead through fairytale pine forests to a lonesome lighthouse and to abandoned bays. This is where you can find one of the most beautiful beaches of Chile: Las Docas. On the other side of the town the park landscape Quebrada Verde invites you to have a picnic or just to stroll along. Its overwhelming panoramas on the wide ocean just take your breath.
The countryside of Laguna Verde enchants with its diversity. Yet, the tranquil town appears like a dusty uncut diamond whose unique value remains unnoticed to most people. Self-sufficient wooden houses and stylish mansions run off into the extensive forests. The unpaved sandy and gravel streets range through the hills. But it is this virginity, imperfection and authenticity that constitute the special charm of this town. Laguna Verde may have some infrastructural difficulties but it is a unique and beautiful place on earth.
